Sheila Tumwine : Founding Partner
Ms. Sheila Tumwine completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University in 2002. She graduated in the top 10 percentile of her class. She went on to obtain her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre which she completed in 2003. She holds an MBA (HR) from Makerere University Business School.
Sheila has attended several workshops and trainings such as the Women in Leadership and Development Program, Corporate Governance for Profitability, Competitiveness and Sustainability, Corporate Finance and Documentation Course, among others.
She has a good grasp of the law with vast legal experience spanning 22 years both in and out of the court room.
She enjoys a good challenge and loves to participate in complex legal cases. She has successfully litigated several high profile cases in the High Court, Anti- Corruption Division, Civil Division, Jinja High Court and the Commercial Division.
In 2018, Sheila was one of the 4 private defense lawyers invited by the Head of the Division where she participated in the drafting of the High Court Anti- Corruption Division Case Management Rules.
She also serves as Company Secretary in various organizations which include, but are not limited to Microfinance Institutions, Construction, Technology and General Trading companies.
She has worked with Dfcu Bank Limited, International Law Institute and Uganda Telecom Limited. She has lectured law and other subjects in Kampala International University and Cavendish University. She continues to offer practical legal guidance and training to Law Development Centre Post- Graduate students during their clerkship.
Sheila is admitted to practice law as an advocate, Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public in the Republic of Uganda.
Amanya Katugume

Amanya Katugume: Associate
Mr. Amanya Katugume is a Legal Associate with the firm having joined in September, 2023.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from Makerere University in 2021. He graduated from the Law Development Centre in 2023 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He is yet to be called to the Bar.
Before joining the firm, Amanya previously worked with M/s Banturaki & Co. Advocates and completed his clerkship at the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC).
His has a keen interest in Corporate and Commercial Transactions as well as Litigation.
Lindsay Wanyoto Mutende

Lindsay Wanyoto Mutende: Consultant International Investment & Business Law
Ms. Lindsay Wanyoto Mutende holds an impressive academic and professional background in law and international business. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Manchester.
She further attained an LLM in International Business Law at King’s College London, focusing on Banking Law, World Trade Law, and Investment Law. Additionally, Lindsay completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) alongside a Business MSc at the University of Law, as well as a specialized program in Investment Appraisal and Risk Analysis jointly offered by Makerere University and Queen’s University, Canada.
Lindsay’s experience spans legal advisory and investment management roles, having interned with esteemed institutions such as MMAKS Advocates, the Uganda Investment Authority, and the National Planning Authority. At MMAKS Advocates, she worked on intellectual property and corporate advisory matters, including copyright claims and public-private partnership agreements.
Her current role at the National Planning Authority involves project development, contract negotiations, and collaboration with key stakeholders to drive Uganda’s investment priorities.
As part of the Aequitas team, Lindsay brings a nuanced understanding of international investment and business law, coupled with hands-on experience in project appraisal and stakeholder engagement. Her expertise positions her as a key contributor to the firm’s international business and investment law practice.

Jonah obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Makerere University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Centre.
Shariif Musa Katongole

Shariif Musa Katongole: Associate
Shariif obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons.) from Makerere University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Law Development Centre.
His areas of specialty include, but not limited to Corporate and Commercial Practice particularly banking, intellectual property and arbitration. He is an all-rounder and capable to advise on most of the areas of the law.
He is highly dedicated to his work, demonstrating strong moral principles and professional conduct.
He is hardworking and motivated, and his immense problem- solving skills certainly yield positive results for the Clients.

Sylvia has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration which she obtained in 2021 from Uganda Christian University.
She joined the team in 2022. She has worked with both the public and private sector such as the Uganda Red Cross.
She is the Female Youth Councilor for Kagarama Sub- County, Isingiro District where she advocates for the youth and attends meetings with the Local Leaders in the District.
In her free time Sylvia carries out charity work with the Uganda Red Cross in Isingiro District. She also plays volleyball professionally.
